Blogcast 2008-08-15 – Rich Young
Rich Young – president of CasinoFacts.Org and Casino Free Mass – and Bumpkin discuss a variety of casino and Middleboro topics. If you make it through the entire 53 minutes, there is a surprising piece of news which will be discussed in a separate blog.
You can download the discussion here or listen below.
Here is the audio. Click the mustache to play and prepare to be wowed.
That was a very nice piece! The two of you have done a very good job keeping yourselves above the name calling and email blastings.
you both should be proud of yourselves!
Very Informative. I did enjoy the podcast very much. I hope the two of you make this a regular thing!
Very original! It came across as a genuine dialogue between two friends discussing a difficult issue for our town.
Oddly enough, you guys didn’t name call or attack anyone. WOW, what a concept!
I hope that others who use other forms of media; print, RADIO, BLOGS, the internet or anything else I forgot, will learn from the example of the two of you.
Great job! I hope other follow your lead. Treat people with kindness and respect, the two of you must not be from around these parts.
Great podcast! You each raised good points, especially about the Spectrum Report.
This is the first time I’ve heard this type of program and you were both impressive.
My comment is simple, why can’t others act like the two of you. Sadly, I mean that from both sides!
Nice work on this very informative piece!
Great job, guys! The assortment was great and the acknowledgement that we have other problems to address in town was needed. The casino filled every Selectmen’s meeting to the exclusion of all other issues…except the dog complaints.
Your handling of last year’s non-debate about the casino was stellar! When you have been gavelled to silence by the Gavel Queen in a town meeting form of government, some things are not easily forgiven.
I hope you do this again soon with additional input.
You both raised wonderful issues that are worthy of consideration as far as the town and moving forward. Everything you said is commendable including the part about there being wrongs on both sides, but I was there at that first meeting that attempted to prevent the Board from auctioning not only the casino property, but a number of other parcels that shouldn’t have been sold to balance Jack’s Crisis Budget.
If you review that list, one must wonder if it was Jack’s retirement present to certain people, but Wayne Perkins sure knew what some of those parcels were.
Some of you might have come to the realization of the casino issue late, but some of us were there in the beginning and tried to stop it.
Unfortunately, some of those same players who sat idly by are still on the board.
You got the part right about needing to move on and solve the 100 problems that the town is facing, but can we do it with the same ones in place who created many of those problems?
Bumpkin made the comment about one selectman reading the blogs and being aware of what others in town are saying. The other 4 members of the board clearly are not.
Ever the optomist, I’ll try to agree with Bumpkin.
Nice job. Everyone is proud of the dialogue the two of you helped to create. Please keep up your efforts.
Great job guys!
This is a rare treat to hear the two of you offer your insight. Rich Young’s words have been prophetic. I hope you’ll do more.
I took the time and effort to listen to the Podcast. ALthough it is almost an hour long it is very informative.
I admire the two of you for your dedication in representing all of us. Mark and Rich, the two of you make me proud to be Anti-casino.
Good Luck!
Rich and I had a great time doing it. FYI there was no script (as if you couldn’t tell). We had a handful of topics scribbled on a paper and just started bloviating.
