Middleboro/Mashpee fundraiser?
The REELWamps blog is a really interesting read. Funny, biting, and informative – or at least speculative. Today it had this interesting blurb:
I’d love to know more information about this potential fundraiser. Who was asked to run it? Why is a fundraiser needed? Has it been planned yet? When is it?
Despite my issues with tribal leadership and the Middleboro casino project in general, I’ve never had an issue with the rank and file tribal members. I’m sure many pro-community people like myself would be interested in this event, fundraiser, or whatever.
Me too, where do I send the check?
BB do you know who was involved in the fundraiser from Middleboro?
MF has never discussed anything about raising money for this.
It seems, based on the tense the Reel Wamps writer used, that the event has already taken place, and "was poorly attended".
I agree with your opinion of the ReelWamps blog- I check back often. If even half of what he (they) says is true, the Tribe is in serious trouble, and why Cromwell & his "crew' aren't in jail is beyond me. It isn't clear to me, is the Medicine Man a tribal elder, or one of the new leadership? My support of any fundraiser would be dependant on the answer to THAT question, based on the financial events described in the blog.
WG – I don't have any idea. It sounds like the tribe "asked" someone for a fundraiser – maybe it went no further than 1 or 2 people. I don't know which Middleboro people are closely tied with the tribe these days – beyond local tribal members and the usual cast of characters.
There is only one group of people tied to the tribe for a fundraiser for them in this town.
It sounds to me that it hasn't been done yet, but wait and see because if it is wanted for them in this town than it will have to be big and there will have to be major fundraising to do it.
That particular group would have to do fundraising for it.
Guy Cash, the Tribe's Medicine Man, has had a long battle with kidney disease. He had a transplant, but is now having problems. There was a fundraiser in Mashpee for him, but it was poorly attended.
Mr. Cash has lost a lot of support because of his political involvement. Both the Chief and Medicine man sit on the Tribal Council, but have traditionally avoided partisan politics.
Sorry to hear that. I hope things work out for him. For what little it's worth, I would advertise any fundraiser by way of my blog.
So would I!
