My column in the May 15th edition of the Middleboro Gazette concerns the proposed police station project. It gives a short overview of the project, its history, and my take on it.
Middleboro is looking to spent around $12M to renovate the existing police station and add an addition. The funding would come from a debt exclusion override. The override would cost the average homeowner $118 per year for 30 years – that would gradually decrease to $59 by year 30.
For the spending to be approved, voters at the upcoming town meeting will need to vote by a 2/3 majority to put the override on the June 14th ballot. The ballot vote would require a simply majority.
To gauge public opinion, I’ve created a poll. Vote.
